Peter Dick was a pioneer German Mennonite industrialist who settled in Niu-York after moving with fellow colonists from the Khortytsia region in southern Ukraine. Following the town’s establishment in 1889, he became one of its key entrepreneurs, founding a major red ceramic brick and roofing tile factory in 1893 before constructing the town’s iconic four-story steam mill in 1903. Utilizing advanced European milling machinery, his enterprise processed local grain for regional distribution and export, establishing Dick as a central figure in Niu-York's economic growth until Soviet nationalization obscured his contributions to the region's industrial development.
